About Moultrie Technical College<\/strong><\/h4>\nThe college was originally founded in 1964 as Moultrie Area Vocational-Technical School at a cost of only $325,000! The college began with only 9 staff and 40 students; offering 5 choices of study \u2013 automotive mechanics, machine shop, electronics, drafting design and electronics and diesel mechanics. A year late 4 more programs were added and enrollment had jumped to 100 students. And by the late 60\u2019s many more courses were available and there were nearly 300 students attending the college.<\/p>\n
There were various expansions in the 1970\u2019s and 1990\u2019s and in 1998 Moultrie Tech had opened the Tiftarea Technical Centre in Tifton. This campus offered 40,000 square feet dedicating to learning in the community it serves.<\/p>\n
The college officially became Moultrie Technical College in the year 2,000 and broke ground on a new 110,000 square feet campus which would be based in Veteran\u2019s Parkway, Moultrie. At the same time the college began offering associate degrees.<\/p>\n
The campus was renovated in 2005 and added new buildings as well, in 2009 and 2010 the college grew larger still. Today the Moultrie Technical College is home to 140 full-time staff (and 100 more part-time workers) and reaches out to 11,000 students a year.<\/p>\n
Moultrie can claim a 95-100% placement rate for its medical and nursing qualifications, and 100% pass rates in 4 of those subjects for state certification \u2013it\u2019s also one of the top 5 programs in the country for Surgical Technology.<\/p>\n
Offering students practical advice and guidance and a choice of dozens of programs that result in professional qualifications, diplomas and degrees Moultrie Technical College has progressed from humble beginnings over half a century to become an institution that Moultrie can be rightly proud of.<\/p>\n
